Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 8/15 Surf / Sea State: lumpy Air Temperature: 12 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: Foul - cloudy, wet and cold :( Max Speed: 22.50 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 18.34 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Today in one word - foul !!! :( cloudy and cold with rain for most of the
session, the sort of conditions I said I would never sail in, but as we are
going away in our little campervan tomorrow this was my last chance to sail
in the UK for a few weeks. Arrived at The Dip at approx. 9:30 with no rain
and winds gusting to 20 mph but not a good tide being nearly high it was
not the best time to sail here. I rigged 7.8 on the 133lt. but by the time
I had my suit on the wind had dropped yet again and I had a floundering run
before heading ashore and rigging 8.5 on the 147lt.I couldn't get going
most of the time going out but could just plane coming in but couldn't
break 20 kts :( Then the rain started and after sheltering in the van I had
another go, I can't believe I stuck at it so long on a cold grey day with a
lumpy sea. The wind filled in a little and I managed to break 20kts peaking
at 22.50kts I even managed to get planning on the way out a couple of times
but the whole session I was under and the wind failed to play ball:( With
the rain coming down and the wind dropping I packed up, the highlight of
the session was spotting a Harbour Porpoise and a seal - sadly there was a
large dead seal floating past :(
